Wunderkind of track and field
Jule Assmann ran her first mountain race – just for fun – while on a family holiday in the Black Forest. She was eight years old. Now she is considered a wunderkind of track and field, although her youth still prevents her from entering any official championships. On the German television programme Stern TV she ran decathlete Frank Busemann into the ground on a treadmill. To Professor Joachim Mester of Cologne Sports School, Assmann is “the greatest stamina talent” he has ever known in his career. The way Jule Assmann sees it is a bit more relaxed: she just likes to run.
