It is very seldom that the critical Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung describes a novel as a “Wunderbuch”. Yet the accolade was thoroughly deserved for Alle Tage, the debut of author, screenwriter and translator Terézia Mora. The book was lavished with collective praise by German literary critics. Not that it is much of a surprise that Ms Mora can write; her translation of Péter Esterházy’s magnum opus Harmonia Cælestis was acclaimed as “a work of genius” by Die Zeit. Hungarian-born Mora’s linguistic achievements have won her (among other things) the Ingeborg Bachmann Award, the Leipzig Book Fair Award and the Mara Cassens Award.
