The event’s focus was on the rapid process of urbanization, which is creating enormous challenges for China. German companies presented their ideas on topics such as environmentally sound urban planning, energy efficiency and mobility. Workshops with German and Chinese experts from industry and science picked up these approaches and explored them further. The metropolis of Guangzhou is one of several cities in the Pearl River Delta where over 100 million people live.
The three-year event series is run by the Federal Foreign Office. Partners include the Goethe-Institut, the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business and the "Germany - Land of Ideas" nation-branding initiative.
