Board of trustees of the initiative Germany – Land of Ideas convened in Berlin
Prominent representatives from the German industry, politics, media, culture and sports lobby for a positive, attractive and friendly sympathetic image of Germany.
Berlin, 29th November, 2005. The board of trustees of the initiative ‘Germany - Land of Ideas’ convened on 29th November 2005 in the guest house of the German President’s Office in Berlin for their constitutive meeting. The board currently consists of twenty-five key figures from the German business community and public life who support the campaign in an advisory capacity and provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on Germany’s image. The board of trustees is chaired by Wulf H. Bernotat, Chairman of the Board of Management of EO.N AG.
Bernotat summarised: “We had a very good meeting today. The board of trustees is manned by high-calibre individuals and has already made various suggestions for the campaign.” The chairman sees the initiative as a unique opportunity to strengthen Germany’s profile as a business location. ”I was very quickly persuaded that this is a unique opportunity to position Germany in a way that it reflects the way we Germans see ourselves and how we want to been seen by others. For me, it is almost a patriotic duty to participate in this initiative.”
The board of trustees is composed of the following members:
‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ is an image initiative mounted jointly by the German government and by the German business community, the latter represented by the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The aim of the initiative is to present Germany at home and abroad as an innovative, cosmopolitan and committed nation. The German President Horst Köhler is the patron of the initiative. It is coordinated by FC Deutschland GmbH’s Chief Executive Officer, Mike de Vries. The initiative Land of Ideas is also supported by numerous German companies and co-operation partners from the spheres of science, culture and the wider society.
