The initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas”, in cooperation with the federal location marketing agency “Invest in Germany”, is organising a discussion forum for accredited journalists at the world economic summit taking place in Heiligendamm from the 6th to the 8th of June 2007.

Around 4000 international journalists are expected at the media centre in Kühlungsborn. On June 6th and 7th, under the title “The Power of Ideas”, 22 speakers from business and science will introduce ideas and innovations that could be put to use in solving global problems. The programme is geared towards the topics on the summit agenda. Energy use and climate protection, growth and innovation, the prospects and risks for global financial markets are all challenges of the future that affect the international community, especially on the African continent. A great many lectures will address this special set of problems during the first two days. In addition to this, on June 8th, Africa will be at the centre of the lecture programme, in parallel to the G8 summit focus for this day.
