‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ presents M100 Sanssouci Colloquium for Second Consecutive Year

Berlin, 22 Aug 2007 – The ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ nation-branding initiative will once again be presenting this year’s ‘M100 Sanssouci Colloquium’ as a cooperation partner to the event.
The annual meeting of around one hundred international opinion leaders and media protagonists is being held in Potsdam for the third time.

This time, participants will convene from Europe, the Middle and Near East under the heading ‘A Dialogue of Arab and European Media’. The ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ initiative works to promote Germany as an up-to-date, cosmopolitan and innovative place for business, especially abroad.

“The colloquium’s concept and topic build on international understanding, which puts it in line with the integrative nature of our initiative,” said Mike de Vries, Managing Director of the initiative. “One of its primary goals is to establish contacts and exchange with the international media in their capacity as multipliers in the process of building understanding and opinions. As part of the discussion of values ongoing here, the initiative aims to make it clear that Germany has an open and constructive attitude to other countries, societies and cultures.”

‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ takes a forward-looking approach, so the event’s youth media workshop is a special priority for the initiative. This year, it takes place under the heading ‘Dialogue between Cultures’. “The Initiative supports all activities which advance international dialogue – especially in the younger generations – and help to inspire understanding for one another. That, after all, is the future,” emphasises de Vries.

The M100 Sanssouci Colloquium, the ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ initiative and the city of Potsdam warmly welcome the participants in the media meet to the Land of Ideas, which has already carved out an outstanding reputation for itself as a media centre.

The ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ nation-branding initiative

‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ is a joint nation-branding initiative by Germany’s federal government and German business, represented by the Federation of German Industry (BDI). Germany’s Federal President Horst Köhler serves as the initiative’s patron. Its aim is to communicate a positive image of Germany at home and abroad, and to emphasise Germany’s strengths as a place for business. The core message of all activities mounted as part of the nation-branding initiative is “Germany leads through innovation”.
