Fan shirt advertises for Germany

The designer Eva Gronbach in the Land of Ideas
Berlin, Cologne, 9 June 2006 – The “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative shows its true colours, right on time for the Football World Cup, with the official fan shirt.
The well-known German designer Eva Gronbach has designed and pro-duced this garment especially for the initiative. It is a white T-shirt bear-ing the lettering “Ich bin ein Fan von Dir” (“I’m your fan”) in the German national colours of black, red, and gold.

“The idea of the initiative really appealed to me,” Eva said about the background to her design, “and that’s why I looked for a forthright and positive statement for the shirt. The direct statement shows that the wearer is taking up an active stance, and the colours make it clear who the statement is aimed at. This garment deliberately communicates light-heartedness in the design, and also has a certain ‘flirt-factor’.”

The T-shirts will be on sale both at the initiative’s information stand on Berlin’s “Fan Mile” and in the online shop for €30. They are available in ladies’ and gentlemen’s styles and in the sizes S, M, L and XL.

About Eva Gronbach:
The internationally renowned designer studied in Brussels (LaCambre) and Paris (IFM), and first gained international attention in 2000 with her col-lection “Déclaration d’amour à l’Allemagne“ (“Declaration of love of Germany”). “It is exciting to see how perceptions can be changed by fashion.” Topical themes find a new context in her women’s and men’s fashions. Pieces from her collections are sold in Europe, Asia and the USA.

The Initiative
“Germany - Land of Ideas“ is a joint initiative by the Federal Government and German industry. It seeks to convey Germany’s image as an innovative, cosmopolitan and modern country, both at home and abroad. Germany’s President Horst Köhler acts as its patron. FC Deutschland GmbH and its chairman Mike de Vries are co-ordinating the initiative. “Land of Ideas“ is sponsored by numerous German companies from the fields of science, culture and society. Its five main projects are: the Walk of Ideas, “365 locations in the Land of Ideas“, the FanClub, the international Media Service and the welcoming initiative.
