Berlin/Cologne, 29.08.2006 – “Germany – Land of Ideas” supports public viewing via Internet during the Football World Cup 2006 for people with disabilities
The initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas” is supporting the 4th INAS-FID Football World Cup 2006 for athletes with mental and learning disabilities, which will be held up until 17 September 2006 in Germany.
Thanks to its commitment, the location initiative is enabling the matches of the German national team to be broadcast on the Internet so that many interested people can tune in to the public viewing, which was already successful during the FIFA World Cup 2006. The TV broadcasts on the Internet can be watched at
www.paralympicsport.tv so that many Germans can enjoy watching the match together.
The 4th INAS-FID Football World Cup 2006 is a major sports event especially for people in Germany with mental and learning disabilities. Teams from 16 nations with all in all 320 athletes are taking part in this World Cup. The unique thing about the 4th INAS-FID Football World Cup 2006 for people with disabilities is that it is supported by a social campaign. The fact that every disabled athlete is accompanied by an able-bodied person illustrates the integrative character of this major sports event.
The National Paralympic Committee of Germany, the Federal Association of living assistance for People with Intellectual Disabilities, the Paralympic Committee of North Rhine Westphalia and the State Association of living assistance of NRW have founded the “Football World Cup 2006 for People with Disabilities” and commissioned this organisation with the planning, preparation and organisation of this major event.
