“Invest in Germany – Land of Ideas” organises an exchange of experience.
Seoul/Berlin, 01.11.2006 – Germany as a business location is the focal point of a Korean investors workshop staged on the initiative of “Invest in Germany – Land of Ideas” and held in the South Korean capital, Seoul.
Representatives of Korean businesses reported on their experience with Germany as an investment location. The Korean participants from the world of politics, commerce, media and technology came to find out more about investment opportunities in Germany – with a particular interest in the high-tech sector.
The workshop is part of the inaugural event for the campaign “Partners in Research & Development”, initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The Minister of Education, Dr Annette Schavan attended the opening.
The aim of the campaign “Partners in Research & Development” is to assist Korean organisations wishing to gain access to German research facilities, competence networks and the German business world, and also to help them in finding suitable partners in the fields of science, business and politics.
The commercial competence of Germany abroad already has an excellent reputation, particularly in Asia, explained Mike de Vries, coordinator of the business location initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas”: Beyond this reputation, the task of “Invest in Germany – Land of Ideas” is to portray Germany to potential investors as an innovative, creative and cosmopolitan country. These factors play an essential role in possible investment decisions.”
Gerhart Maier, managing director of Invest in Germany, emphasised the significance of advanced German technology for Korean businesses: “When looking towards Europe, Germany is always the first choice for those Korean companies dependent on research and development. Moreover, investments in advanced technology sectors are particularly successful too. Above all, Germany’s innovative abilities have an excellent reputation in Asia. Korean investors already involved in Germany were pleased to confirm this in the course of our workshop.”
