Successful Partners: HANNOVER MESSE – “Germany – Land of Ideas” -“Invest in Germany”

Berlin/Hannover, 12 Apr 2007 – The “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative and the German government’s location marketing agency “Invest in Germany” are jointly participating in various events at this year’s HANNOVER MESSE (16. - 20. April 2007).
HANNOVER MESSE is an internationally renowned meeting-place for technology and industry innovations. It is also a partner in the “Germany – Land of Ideas” nation-branding initiative by Germany’s government and business sector (represented by the Federation of German Industry BDI).

As last year, HANNOVER MESSE will include a “Night of Innovations,” at which Jürgen R. Thumann, President of the BDI and Chairman of the “Deutschland - Land der Ideen e.V.” steering committee, will present a “Landmark 2007” certificate to the “Research & Technology” networking platform. The platform thus becomes part of “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas,” Germany’s biggest event series to date, which is jointly implemented by the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative and Deutsche Bank as its project partner. The “Night of Innovations” starts at 6.30pm on 16th April 2007 in Hall 2.

International investors will find expert contacts In the Global Business Forum in Hall 6. “Germany – Land of Ideas” and “Invest in Germany” are hosting an exclusive Business Lounge here, complete with culinary delights by Ali Güngörmüs, a celebrity chef in Hamburg and one of the “100 Minds of Tomorrow.” Güngörmüs will be giving a cooking demo on the opening day of HANNOVER MESSE.
The lecture forum gives trade fair visitors an opportunity to learn more about topics they might be interested in. On 16th April 2007, Mike de Vries, Managing Director of the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative, will talk about: “Germany – Land of Ideas: Best Practice for Successful Nation Branding.” “Germany – Land of Ideas” and “Invest in Germany” are also inviting media representatives, professionals, and trade fair organisers to an evening event at the Global Business Forum on 17th April 2007, under the heading “Good Climate for Business.”

The activities of the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative and the “Invest in Germany” location marketing agency are backed by the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology.
In the future, technologies, innovation and a knowledge edge will become increasingly important to prevailing in global competition. In light of this realisation, HANNOVER MESSE and “Germany – Land of Ideas” called the TectoYou initiative into being. TectoYou is dedicated to encouraging young people to commit their skills and creativity to careers in technology by communicating to them that this is an attractive field that gives them the opportunity to actively shape their future. A “Festival of Technology” on Friday 20th April 2007 will form the highlight of the program, as the Event Hall in Hanover is transformed into a centre of youth communications. Experts from the technology industry will join representatives from business and politics in answering teens’ questions. Information, interaction and entertainment will be given equal weight in conveying the fascination of careers in technology to the youths in attendance.

About “Germany - Land of Ideas”

“Germany – Land of Ideas“ is a joint nation-branding initiative of the Federal Government and German industry, represented by the Federation of German Industry (BDI). The aim of the initiative is to portray Germany, at home and abroad, as an innovative, cosmopolitan and enthusiastic country. The patron of the initiative is the German President Horst Köhler. The “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative is funded by the “Deutschland – Land der Ideen e.V.” society. It realises various core projects: the event programme – “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”, international media service and the FanClub. Invest in Germany (IiG) is the German government’s location marketing agency. IiG advises foreign investors on investment opportunities in Germany and local conditions, providing support and comprehensive consulting to investors, from production site analysis to putting the investment decision into practise. Companies intending to settle in or expand to Germany are given detailed information on local legal, commercial and tax conditions and possible subsidies.
IiG is headquartered in Berlin and has international offices in the U.S., Japan and China.
HANNOVER MESSE – The world’s most important technology event for the industrial sector will take place in Hannover from April 16- 20, 2007, when 12 key trade fairs come together under the roof of HANNOVER MESSE. The central topics in 2007 are industrial automation, propulsion technology and fluidics, energy technologies, industrial supply and services, and emerging technologies. The HANNOVER MESSE 2007 partner country is Turkey.
