Anu Kivi in the administration of the Estonian town of Viljandi cultivates relations with partner cities in the Hanseatic League that was established in 1157 – the root of the European idea, as it were. Her favourite part is that the unification of Europe strengthens small regions as well. "People who left the country earlier are now coming back because the culture and economy are being revitalised."
