Berlin, 13th September 2005 - Today, the State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office Georg Boomgaarden and the FC Deutschland Chief Executive Mike de Vries officially launched the international kick-off for the initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas”. Under the motto “Welcome to Germany – Land of Ideas” 226 German representative offices will receive a starter kit in the next few days. It will contain information leaflets and promotional materials on the image campaign “Germany – Land of Ideas”. They are to be distributed on the German Unification Day celebrations in all embassies and general consulates. This should also include setting up welcoming bulletin boards that greet all visitors at the German missions abroad.

On handing over the starter kits, State Secretary Boomgaarden declared: “The Foreign Office and its over 220 diplomatic representations abroad look forward to working together with FC Deutschland GmbH on the image campaign ‚Germany – Land of Ideas’. Together, we want to promote the creative and innovative power of this hospitable and cosmopolitan country of Germany.“ Boomgaarden explicitly thanked German companies for their financial support, without which this project would not have been possible.

FC-Deutschland Chief Executive Mike de Vries added: “The 3rd October is an ideal occasion to present ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ for the first time abroad, together with the German Foreign Office and our representative offices. Our representative offices abroad are in a decisive position to influence people’s perception of Germany and are therefore very valuable partners in this initiative. We very much look forward to further cooperation.”
