Ready for the Future: CFK-Valley Stade Receives Award

365 Places of Ideas – taking stock after eleven days

Berlin, 11 January 2006 – CFK-Valley e.V. in Stade presented itself to the public on 11 January 2006 as the eleventh winner in the “365 Places in the Land of Ideas” - competition.
The network was awarded the winner’s certificate by Jürgen Fitschen, member of the Group Executive Committee of Deutsche Bank, and Mike de Vries, Chief Executive of FC Deutschland GmbH. The participants used the Open Day at the Stade technology centre to take stock of the campaign thus far. The general consensus: The project has got off to a great start and has been well received by the places. The participants were particularly impressed by the variety of ideas, which was clear even after just ten days. “It makes you want more,” said Mike de Vries, “We are really excited about what will happen in the remaining 354 Places in the Land of Ideas.”
Jürgen Fitschen of Deutsche Bank, the campaign partner, had similar feelings: “We had the pleasure of introducing the 365 places just a few weeks ago. What I heard today was very impressive and is a good example of how creativity and openness and innovation can lead to new ideas. The 365 Places in the Land of Ideas project is an opportunity for us to reflect on the strengths of our country and to develop the imagination and courage to tackle new things.”

The abbreviation CFK refers to a material that not only makes airplanes more resistant and lighter, but helps reduce their kerosene consumption.
Forty German and international companies and research institutions have joined forces to establish CFK-Valley, a competence centre in the town of Stade in Lower Saxony. They work together to develop innovative concepts, which are implemented in the technology centre on site. The aim of the companies is to work as a network to develop production chains, initiate national, European and international projects, and to assist selected suppliers and development partners in their relocation to Stade. The bottom line: to create technical innovations that are environmentally friendly, make your next holiday cheaper and create jobs.

365 Places in the Land of Ideas is a project of the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative, which will present Germany both at home and abroad as an innovative, modern and cosmopolitan country during the year. It is being carried out in cooperation with Deutsche Bank, which is also an official partner of Germany – Land of Ideas. Each day of the year, from 1 January through 31 December 2006, a different winner will present itself to the public. Winners come from all German states and include 83 companies, 88 research institutes, schools and universities, 84 museums, 80 initiatives, municipal institutions, organisations and associations, 22 festivals, orchestras and theatres, and eight tourism projects. The initiative also collaborated with the DuMont publishing company to create the Land of Ideas travel guide, which went on sale in bookshops on 1 January 2006.
