EnBW and the federal state of Baden-Württemberg: partners of the initiative
Baden-Württemberg advertises patents in the Land of Ideas
Stuttgart, 03 February 2006 – On 3 February 2006, Mike de Vries, Chief Executive of FC Deutschland GmbH presented the partner plaque for Baden-Württemberg to Minister President Günther H. Oettinger. EnBW had already received the official partner plaque earlier.
Stuttgart, 03 February 2006 – On 3 February 2006, Mike de Vries, Chief Executive of FC Deutschland GmbH presented the partner plaque for Baden-Württemberg to Minister President Günther H. Oettinger. EnBW had already received the official partner plaque earlier.
“We are happy to support the Germany – Land of Ideas initiative by becoming a partner since much research, inventing and development takes place in Baden-Württemberg,” said Minister President Günther H. Oettinger. “We make policy following the principle of ‘The future is in our minds’. I am therefore pleased that 61 of the 365 Places in the Land of Ideas are located in Baden-Württemberg this year.”
“Like the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, EnBW stands for research and openness to the world. We hope to demonstrate this with a few on-site events and support the federal state within the initiative,” said Dr. h. c. Detlef Schmidt, member of the EnBW Board of Management for marketing and sales. “This action is the ideal complement to our commitment as a national sponsor of the FIFA 2006 Football World Cup TM,” continued Schmidt.
An ad campaign will highlight the inventiveness of the federal state. The campaign was developed by Baden-Württemberg, EnBW Energie Baden Württemberg AG and the Germany – Land of Ideas initiative. The partners hope to use the title of the campaign “While you are reading this newspaper, Baden-Württemberg is registering a patent” to point out to readers of national dailies and weeklies that every 40 minutes someone from Baden-Württemberg registers a patent.
Mike de Vries stressed the local business community’s ties to Baden-Württemberg, which has lead companies to identify strongly with their environment.
When presenting the partnership plaque, de Vries seemed confident that this partnership at the federal state level will send a positive signal for the strength of Germany as a whole.

Germany – Land of Ideas is a joint campaign mounted by the German government in conjunction with the business community, represented by the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The aim of the initiative is to present Germany at home and abroad as an innovative, cosmopolitan and enthusiastic country. The German President Horst Köhler is the patron of the initiative. It is coordinated by FC Deutschland GmbH’s Chief Executive Mike de Vries. The Land of Ideas initiative is also supported by numerous German companies and associate partners from the spheres of science, culture and society. The initiative has five core projects: a Walk of Ideas sculpture park, the 365 Places in the Land of Ideas event series, a FanClub, an international media service and a welcome initiative.
