Handwerksmesse in Munich with “Germany – Land of Ideas” / Campaign supports “Young Generation”
Munich, 10 March 2006 – The IHM, the international Handwerksmesse (skilled trades fair) is starting this year with “Germany – Land of Ideas”. Not only the logo of the campaign will be perceptible to the visitors to the fair.
The “Germany – Land of Ideas” campaign has taken on the sponsorship of the “Young Generation” information fair as part of the IHM.

The IHM has been held every year since 1949 and regards itself as a platform for the German skilled trades, and also a fair that promotes the exchange of opinion and experience between the worlds of the skilled trades and of politics. With the “Young Generation” facility the initiators aim to make young visitors to the Fair familiar with the apprenticeships, prospects and career opportunities available in the skilled trades.

“The joint offer shows, particularly for younger people, that this cooperation is really working between the IHM and the “Germany – Land of Ideas” campaign, says Mike de Vries, managing director of FC Germany GmbH, with satisfaction. The motto, “The ideas smithy of the skilled trades,” also emphasises the bridge that has been created between the two partners.

The “Land of Ideas” will mainly present itself to young visitors at the west entrance hall to the New Munich Exhibition Centre and motivate them to join in with a variety of attractions. In addition to information material the campaign will be offering them the chance to register with the “FanClub Germany”, as some 40,000 people have already done. The “Land of Ideas” arm-bands, which brought German athletes good luck in Turin recently, can also be purchased, and the proceeds will go to a good cause.

In addition to this, the “Germany – Land of Ideas” campaign will offer the dribbling route as part of the stand rally, and all young people will be able to take part. Attractive prizes will be on offer every day.

The initiators
“Germany – Land of Ideas” is the campaign mounted jointly by the German Federal Government and German business, represented by the Federation of German Industry, to promote Germany as an attractive location. Its aim is to communicate an image of Germany, at home and abroad, as an innovative country that is open-minded towards the whole world and capable of great enthusiasm. The patron of the campaign is Horst Köhler, the Federal President of Germany. FC Germany GmbH with its managing director Mike de Vries is coordinating the campaign, which is supported by numerous German companies and partners from the worlds of science, culture and society. The campaign is implementing five core projects: the “Walk of Ideas” sculpture park, the “365 locations in the Land of Ideas” series of events, the FanClub, the International Media Service, and the Welcome Campaign.
