Paris/Berlin, 18.09.06 – From now on the motif: “Follow your Instincts. Invest in Germany” from the advertising campaign with Claudia Schiffer will be featured in the collection of the Musée de la Publicité in Paris.
Virginie Vignon, member of the Museum’s Board of Trustees, explains the choice of motif as follows: “Claudia Schiffer is a veritable icon in international fashion. She represents an image of a modern Germany, a Germany which is interested in the world around it and open to new things”. She went on to say that “a special feature of the museum is its international outlook. It has advertising posters from the whole of Europe, from the beginnings of advertising in the 18th Century to the modern day”. The Claudia Schiffer motif will first be archived in the museum and may be featured in a public exhibition on photography and advertising as early as December 2006.
Claudia Schiffer waxed lyrical about the inclusion of the poster in the Musée de la Publicité collection: “I very pleased about the international success of our series of posters on ‘Invest in Germany – Land of Ideas’. The fact that a poster from this campaign will now be featured in the Musée de la Publicité shows that it was the right strategy to present the reputedly dull topic of investment in such a creative, intelligent and humorous manner”. With the series of posters, Germany’s most famous photo model did her bit to promote Germany as an investment and economic location. In summer, the poster motifs were displayed in the financial metropolises of London, Tokyo and New York City.
The Musée de la Publicité in the French capital is the only museum of its kind worldwide which documents advertising from its humble beginnings around 1850 to the present day. Alone the poster archive contains more than 40,000 advertising posters from the pre-1945 era and almost 45,000 contemporary posters. In addition to classic advertising posters, the Museum also exhibits adverts, press releases and radio and TV adverts. The Musée de la Publicité is housed in the Louvre building and is part of the “Les Arts Décoratifs” museums.
